Starbucks is going to be adding a brand new menu item on March 3: a Canada-exclusive Starbucks Beyond Meat sandwich!
NEW STARBUCKS BEYOND MEAT, CHEDDAR & EGG SANDWICH AVAILABLE IN CANADA ON MARCH 3
The new Starbucks Beyond Meat, Cheddar & Egg Sandwich will be part of a set of new menu items for the spring.
The sandwich marks the first collaboration of Starbucks and Beyond Meat. The patty is flavoured with rosemary, fennel and different herbs and spices.
A few weeks ago, Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson and COO Rosalind Brewer both announced that a new plant-based sandwich would soon be available for the US and Canadian markets.
The introduction of the sandwich is seen as part of Starbucks sustainability efforts.
STARBUCKS TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH COMPETITORS ALREADY OFFERING PLANT-BASED MENU ITEMS
Starbucks competitors, including Dunkin Donuts has already added plant-based sandwiches to their menu.
The Dunkin Donuts Beyond Sausage Sandwich has proven to be quite popular with customers.
BEYOND MEAT & OTHER PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS GAINING IN POPULARITY
Not everyone has experienced success with plant-based products. Burger King is finding it challenging, with their first partnership with Impossible Foods, the Impossible Whopper.
The plant-based burger isn’t connecting with customers as much as they hoped. Part of the problem for Burger King is the Impossible Whopper’s premium price point.
It’s not all doom-and-gloom for Impossible Foods, however.
The Walt Disney Co. has recently announced that Impossible Foods will be the preferred provider for plant-based burgers at all of its theme parks, cruises and resorts.
The Petite Impossible Burger and the Impossible Meatball Submarine Sandwich will debut at the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival on February 28.
